Free-flowing clay forms podlike puddles -- I call them "poddles" -- with a distinctive, unmistakable look and movement. These poddle patterns are found everywhere in nature, in particular when air, earth, and water interact. It's a dynamic tension between willful self-containment and a willingness to merge.

What does this express about the nature of clay?
